B&H Eliminates Internet Sales Tax with New Card

Those of us in the photography world know one thing – and only one thing – is certain: It’s going to be expensive.

Whether it is gear, accessories, bags, you name it, people spend a ton of money on their passion.

And nothing hurts worse than forking over a ton of cash to satisfy some sales tax.

Especially when you buy your equipment online.

But B&H Photo, the legendary shop out of New York City, has a solution for that problem that they think most photographers and their loved ones will really, really appreciate.

Meet the Payboo card, the first of its kind that promises to eliminate sales tax payments on the Internet.

You have to get approved, but once you are there’s no annual fee to have the card.

How it works is that you go to B&H, buy something, and then use your Payboo card which gives you an instant rebate or “reward” in the exact amount of the sales tax applied by your locality so that the final sum is the price of the product sans tax.

“The savings are instant – no future credits, points to accrue, or coupons to worry about,” B&H said about the card.

B&H CEO Menashe Horowitz said of the Payboo card, “B&H has always believed that if we treat people right, they will come back…The Payboo Card reflects B&H’s commitment to provide customers not only with incredible service and products, but also unique savings by applying an instant reward that offsets the impact of sales tax. This is a common-sense way for us to help our customers save money as they’ve come to expect when shopping at B&H.”

So what is the catch?

Well, most credit cards come with an APR of 19%, but the Payboo card will come with a 30% APR. Yikes.

But if you pay off your balance at the end of your billing period, you won’t have to worry about that.

You can apply for a card over at B&H.

What do you think? Does it sound like something that would interest you?
