Product photography is one of the most widely used photographic styles, as it is a core component of modern-day marketing. Product photographers spend hours on the set-up before a shoot to ensure the product they are shooting really stands out and sells.

To take high-quality product photographers, you need to have the right gear. First and foremost, you need a camera. While you need not spend an exorbitant amount of money on a top-of-the-range piece of equipment, you do need something that allows you to shoot manually and in raw format.

More important than the camera you have is knowing how to use it properly. After all, to capture a fantastic image, you need more than just a camera. You need to know how to choose and manipulate elements such as lighting and exposure.

Additionally, as a product photographer, you want to work with a tripod. This piece of equipment enables you to shoot with a slow shutter, while also not producing a blurry image. White backgrounds are ideal for product shots and can cheaply be purchased online or at your local art store.

Finally, to set up your shots, it is helpful to have a table. This us useful for setting the products on and tape to secure the background or any boards that you are using.

Generally, when you are doing product photography, the ultimate aim is to inspire someone to purchase the featured item. For this reason, it is crucial that you give the product context to make it easier for the viewer to imagine themselves using it.

For example, if you are taking a photo of a chair, you probably don't want to shoot it against a blank background. Instead, it would be best if you looked for ways to put it in the context of a styled room. This allows viewers to envision themselves sitting on the chair and incorporating it into their space.

In some cases, the best option for giving your product photography ideas some context is through the use of props. Of course, you never want the props to dominate the photograph as the product should be the main focus. However, some light accessories may help to situate the item in the viewer's mind.

The Canon M50 Mark II is the successor to the very popular M50 which was a favourite mirrorless camera for many. However, the updated M50 II is somewhat of a disappointment with very minimal upgrades. Also, the new Canon EOS M50 II won't be available in various regions on launch including Europe, the Middle East and Africa!

How bizarre. Canon's long-awaited update falls incredibly short of the specs that people were hoping for when reading the rumours. So here are the specs announced for the EOS M50 II.

Panasonic are one of my favourite camera manufacturers and Olympus are the people that got me into photography in the 1980's with the Olympus OM-1. Classic camera!

​The cool thing is, YOU get to use these tools on your clients but just how good are they?

Well, I am ​what you might call a typical man​. I am an ex-skydiver, skier, superbike rider, scuba diver and rocker. I enjoy life and pushing myself to the limits. But...

Just 10 minutes into one of the tools and I was in tears as I dug deep into my life. Thinking I was ​a bit over-emotional, I went ​into the amazing 20,000 strong, private Facebook group to see if I was alone but no. Apparently this particular tool has the same affect on m​any people.
