Governments can take about registration schemes all day long, but none of that matters if people are bad drone pilots to begin.
DJI has worked towards making sure that people who buy its products not only know what they are getting into but know a little bit about what they’re doing.
That’s why the company has announced a partnership to help it with an aggressive expansion of its Unmanned Aerial Vehicle Training Centers, called UTCs by the company.
And it is partnering with none other than Rocky Mountain Unmanned Systems (RMUS) to do this.
RMUS is “the premier source for cost-effective unmanned aerial systems and sensors. Our team of highly experienced technicians are always available to answer your questions. We also offer a variety of training services specific to the UAV system you purchase by FAA certified part 107 remote pilots.”
According to DPReview, DJI will get to make use of RMUS’s “eight training centers located in Utah, Washington, California, Hawaii, Delaware, Ohio, Texas, and Illinois. Each location will start off using Commercial UAS Training – Level 1, a new curriculum that provides a foundation for developing the knowledge and skills to pilot an unmanned aircraft. Training will be conducted both online and on-site.”
These sites will offer certification upon passing a test and should be available starting in June of this year.
The UTC’s are just one of a multi-pronged approach by DJI to help foster the growth and development of the consumer drone market.
As the world’s largest maker of consumer drones, it has a vested interest in doing so – especially when you consider how skeptical of drone technology some can be.
That’s not entirely without good reason, either, as drones have made a bit of a reputation for themselves over the past year by doing everything from interrupting air traffic to snooping on people.
