The action camera market just got a lot more crowded today, and that can’t be good news for GoPro.
None other than the world’s largest consumer drone manufacturer, DJI, is getting in on the “action” (pun intended) with the DJI Osmo Action.
And the early press is extremely positive.
Built to challenge GoPro’s Hero 7 Black, the new DJI Osmo Action doesn’t lack for features and pretty much does the same things as its competitor’s product.
It is waterproof to 11 meters and shockproof to 1.5 meters. The DJI Osmo Action also comes armed with a 12MP camera that shoots 4K 60 frames per second video at 100 Mbps or 1080 video at 240 frames per second. There is also a range of lens filters depending on the lighting you are working with that day.
Basically, the new DJI Osmo Action camera looks like it is built to produce content for social media and beyond right out of the box.
It also is going to make life a lot easier for some people – especially those who like to see what they’re doing.
The included front-facing selfie screen is expected to be a draw for social media-addicted action camera shoppers and eliminates the need to look through an app (as you have to do with the Hero 7 Black).
All of that and it arrives at a price of $USD 349.
For its part, the GoPro Hero 7 Black retails for anywhere between $USD 349 and 399.
