Rumor Mill Suggests Fuji X-E Line Cancelled

You know we like to bring you rumors when they have the possibility of being accurate.

And no one is more reliable when it comes to Fujifilm whispers than the appropriately named Fuji Rumors.

They’re reporting that the Japanese optics giant is considering canceling its X-E camera mode lineup in what would be a tragic development for fans of the compact form factor.

Even so, as many have pointed out, it’s always been on the cusp of being mothballed for some time now. The X-E3 is already canceled but the rumor mainly concerns any future model which would likely be called the X-E4.

Those with long memories will recall that the X-E2 wasn’t a very big success when it came out way back when. In fact, it was such a market flop that most people thought that was the end in 2016.

For those of you not familiar with the X-E3, here’s what Fuji has to say:

“The X-E3 features APS-C 24.3 megapixel X-Trans™* CMOS III sensor and the X-Processor Pro high-speed image processing engine. The X-E3 is the first X Series model to feature Bluetooth ®** low energy wireless communication. You can pair the camera with your smartphone or tablet device for easy transfer of pictures taken. The LCD monitor, on the back of the camera, uses a static touchscreen panel that supports the conventional “Touch Shot”, “Touch AF” and “Focus Area Selection” capabilities.”

Lauded as a fun, minimalist compact shooter, we can definitely see why the X-E3 is struggling in the current market and also why it would have a devoted fanbase.
