Nikon D6 Arriving in 2 Weeks!!

We’ve got some good news for you if you’re one of the lucky people that preordered a Nikon D6: It’s on its way in two weeks.

D6 from Nikon.

Probably one of the biggest releases in the DSLR segment for some time, the D6’s May 21 street date is a change from its initially planned release last month. As you can imagine, the delay is partially due to the novel circumstances under which many companies are operating right now.

First announced in February of this year, the D6 is one piece of kit we have covered quite extensively here on Light Stalking – and for good reasons. We reported that the novel coronavirus outbreak that has brought much of the world economy to a standstill had also impacted Nikon’s ability to bring the D6 to market on time.

Rocking a 20.8MP full-frame BSI CMOS sensor, the camera is also being touted by Nikon as the most powerful AF in its history with a 105-point all-cross-type system, PetaPixel reports.

As far as positioning the camera in relation to its predecessor, Nikon claims it is a leap forward while also retaining the D5’s best qualities.

“[The] D6 flagship FX-format D-SLR camera gives them exactly that, combining a new, higher-density AF system and EXPEED 6 image-processing engine with improved post-shooting workflow and the proven ruggedness of the D5,” Nikon writes on its product page for the new camera.

Did you preorder the Nikon D6? Are you excited about it? For the rest of us, what do you think of the D6? Let us know your thoughts in the comments section below if you like.

“Life is like a camera. Just focus on what’s important and capture the good times, develop from the negatives and if things don’t work out, just take another shot.” — Unknown
