Vivo Previews New X50 Pro Smartphone with Built-In Gimbal Tech for Photographers

Smartphone photography is probably one of the most intensely competitive segments in the industry.

Each maker wants to get some kind of technology advantage over the crowd and this drive to innovate often rewards consumers with handsets that are extremely capable as photography devices, let alone for all of the other things they do for us.

Vivo’s X50 Pro will apparently employ something called a micro-cloud gimbal technology to help users take clearer, sharper pictures.

As Gizmodo explains, “By using a tiny double-ball suspension, Vivo’s micro-cloud can pivot its camera sensor back and forth by up to three degrees, allowing the phone to better correct for changes in the camera sensor’s pitch or yaw. All the extra circuitry, coils, and cables result in a camera module that’s significantly larger than what you’d find on a typical smartphone.”

Best of all is that this tech is crammed into a form factor capable of fitting into your pocket like any other smartphone out there. Additional specs for the phone that we know about right now include a 48MP main sensor and a “periscope-style” zoom lens.

The Vivo X50 Pro will be making its official debut in China in June according to multiple press reports.

“Life is like a camera. Just focus on what’s important and capture the good times, develop from the negatives and if things don’t work out, just take another shot.” — Unknown
