Week after week, we state that “photography has the power of lightening up our daily lives,” and what a wonderful way of kick-starting our frantic routines by diving into some beautiful images in the comfort of our seats!
What about some flawlessly exposed photographs? This week's challenge is about bringing shadows to life and humbly behaved highlights. Here's our curation of Exposure Bracketing from Tersha's 657th challenge! And for those still wondering what this sophisticated expression means, look at this exposure bracketing article that every good photographer should know and an easy guide on exposure compensation.
Photo Of The Week – August 28th, 2023
This time, POTW goes to @dchester1001.
This shot is an amazingly good example of exposure bracketing because David used 7 images to create this!
On top of that, the image has wonderful lighting and a very effective color scheme.
Congrats, David!
What Are Our Members Up To?
Pour some coffee or tea and enjoy these bracketed photographs!
This is the result of 3 bracketed images brought together! Very natural look, don't you think?
Red barn in a field, a lone sentinel against time.
The trick when doing bracketing in post-processing is to keep a balanced approach. Otherwise, you'll end up with funny HDR-looking shots.
What You Shouldn't Be Missing From The Light Stalking Community
Patrick started a thread for experimental photography ideas, he presents himself playing around at home with a piece of perspex and some LED lights:
Daniel shared some early morning fog from rural Minnesota, a beautiful landscape indeed!
Robert Apple captured this gorgeous portrait:
Dave Watkins shared what he thinks to be a black thread-waisted wasp on Queen Annes Lace:
And some color as well:
And Beth captured another cinematic frame: Shot with Ulanzi mini tube light for backlighting, Godox LED panel wrapped in a paper towel to mimic the moonlight, and an LED light bead for the err..herbal cig. Atmosphere aerosol is used for some light haze. The blunt was held in place using a wire wrapped around the fingers. Blunt and beer cans came with a different non-Star Wars figure.
The Mobile Monday Challenge is open for sharing some shots! And if you want to see more shots, look at the Members Picks, where our community shares their favorite photographs from our forums weekly.
We'd Love To Hear Your Thoughts
Also, our Feedback Forum has some nice pictures, and is clear that some of you have started building a solid photography style. This is the right place for those who want to grow fast as photographers.
Here, you'll get your work critiqued by plenty of well-intended people, but you'll also have the chance to critique your peers. We truly believe in the power of criticism and feedback. Here are some of the most interesting shots shared during the last week:
The Shark Tank is a great place to learn and discuss, so please read the instructions in order to get a better critique experience. Share your comments, opinions, and doubts on any or all of the images above. We also will be delighted to see some of your own images. Don't be shy, critiques are given to photographs and not photographers.
Also, don't forget to participate in our 658th challenge!
