We’ve had a dearth of new releases to talk about in the past few years.
While a lot of that was due to the complications with COVID-19, some other trends in the consumer sector have made new product announcements few and far between.
But it looks like we are getting back into the swing of things or, in other words, things are starting to feel somewhat normal.
Of course, it’s that time of the year and we’re all about it.
That’s right: It’s time for the big names in the industry to start rolling out new products in time for end-of-year shopping and, while we had some warning from Sony that this was coming, we’re still excited about the new A9 III.
Equipped with a 24.6-megapixel sensor the camera is the first full-frame camera to use a global shutter, The Verge reports. Other highlights include Up to 120 fps Raw Continuous Shooting with AF/AE, Pre-Capture Function (Speed Boost Button), Flash Sync at Any Shutter Speed (Up to 1/80,000 Sec.), Up to 4K 120p 10-bit Video (S-Log3 & S-Cinetone), 759-Point Phase-Detect AF with Real-time Tracking, 8-Stop 5-Axis In-Body Image Stabilization, 9.44m-dot 0.9x OLED EVF with up to 240 Hz Refresh Rate, 3.2” 2.1m-dot 4-Axis Multi-Angle Touchscreen LCD, and Dual CFexpress Type A/SD Card Slots.
And now it’s time for the bad news and by that we mean the $USD 5,999 price tag attached to this cutting-edge equipment. Compared to industry peers, that’s in line with trends, but that’s still a hefty chunk of change. Yet, for someone already invested in the Sony ecosystem, the A9 III is probably a compelling new iteration.
