5 Reasons You Need a Professional Photography Website

Nature photographers today have the ability to share their images on multiple social media accounts. Currently, Instagram and Facebook are the most popular. So why would you need a website for your photography if you can share and advertise on your favorite social media account? Below I will share five reasons you need to have a professional looking website for your photography business.

1. CREDIBILITY

Having a professional looking website gives you credibility as a professional artist. Your community and beyond will have more respect for you as a business owner. When people browse your website, they will be able to learn more about you and the work and services you provide.

2. INCOME EARNINGS

A professional website can showcase your portfolio, you’ll have more possibility to earn revenue. Even if you don’t have a shopping cart for people to purchase your prints or products on the fly, there will be at least a way for customers to contact you. Whether you do workshops, sell prints or products, or do assignments, your website has the potential to reach a much wider audience.

3. SEARCHABLE

Having a website, along with your social media accounts, can make your name and portfolio easier to find in the search engines. For example, someone may search for a photographer in your local area or state. Your name comes up in the search, and they take a look at your website and portfolio to decide if they like your work. That is how I have received most of my photo assignments and custom print inquiries and continue to do so.

4. PORTFOLIO

A strong portfolio to represent your body of work is a very important aspect of marketing your business. Even though you can share your images often through social media, ultimately people browsing your website can find it all right there. It can be constantly updated to reflect your newest work. Social media accounts can come and go but you ultimately have control over your images and the content on your own website.

5. BLOG

Adding a blog on any website can help your site get good search engine traffic. A blog has content that changes, so web crawlers come back often to index your content.

Nowadays there are many ways to create an affordable website for your business. Make it a priority to either hire someone to assist you, or do it yourself.

If you are thinking about creating a website for your nature photography business, I highly recommend that you get started today!

“Life is like a camera. Just focus on what’s important and capture the good times, develop from the negatives and if things don’t work out, just take another shot.” — Unknown
