This next piece of kit is a behemoth.
At least when it comes to megapixels.
Introducing the new XF IQ4 camera system from Phase One, a device capable of capturing photos at resolutions of up to 151 MP in a full-frame medium format camera that is going to command a price tag nearly as high as its megapixels.

According to a report from PetaPixel there will be three digital backs on offer, a “151-megapixel IQ4 150MP, the 151-megapixel IQ4 150MP Achromatic, and the 101-megapixel IQ4 100MP Trichromatic.”
In their marketing for the product, Phase One says it is “a world first in full frame medium format photography,” with the 151-megapixel products offering an unprecedented level of detail than ever before. Another novel feature is that users will able to do editing of photos using Phase One’s Capture One software which is embedded in the IQ4. Dubbed the “Capture One Inside,” this software brings “improved preview quality, JPEG processing, IIQ Style integration, improved live view, faster frame rate, and new tools” according to PetaPixel.
In terms of interfacing with other devices, Phase One says, “sers will be able to interface directly with accessories such as hard drives, NAS storage, network solutions, mobile devices, etc. …New ports (Ethernet and USB-C) can offer charging capabilities of the camera system or sustained power from compatible devices” with SD and XQD storage options.
The three new models from Phase One, the Phase One XF IQ4 150MP, IQ4 150MP Achromatic, and IQ4 100MP Trichromatic, will be offered at prices of $51,900, $54,990, and $47,990 with retail sales beginning in October 2018.
At those prices, we’re sure only the most rarefied among us will be able to enjoy Phase One’s new kit but we can’t wait to see what they capture with the new IQ4 models.
