There are almost as many wedding photography horror stories as there are grains of sand in the Sahara.
But every once in a while you find a true diamond in the rough.
And that’s today’s tale of wedding photography gone crazy.
If there's one thing we can definitively say about it: We're sure no one will forget this event anytime soon. Or ever. After all, the Internet is forever.
Arlington, Texas wedding photographer Katherine Leigh Mehta was arrested for public intoxication, among other things, after allegedly representing herself (and the profession) horribly while in the field at a wedding she was commissioned to photograph.
Numerous reports have detailed how Mehta apparently became extremely intoxicated at the wedding. She was even caught having sex with one of the wedding guests and, after being confronted, promptly went to urinate on a tree in front of the gathered crowd.
We don’t know what went wrong with her day but, needless to say, this is not how you want to conduct yourself as a wedding photographer.
But it gets better – as these stories tend to do. After this Oscar-worthy performance, Mehta then threatened the crowd with imminent death and had to be arrested on the spot.
WGN9, a news station in Texas, quotes Mehta as telling the assembled, likely shocked, crowd: “Y’all families will be dead by Christmas, y’alls daughters are dead. My dad is going to find out about this, and y’all are (expletive) dead. D-E-A-D.””
In her defense, prosecutors think Mehta’s behavior can be explained by the combined effects of Alprazolam with alcohol. Nonetheless, she had to fork up a $10k bail to get out of jail and, we assume, find a new career field.
You can watch a news clip from Inside Edition on this by clicking here. A woman identifying herself as Mehta's sister alleges that Mehta claims she was given some kind of pill at the party by men who wanted to “do inappropriate things with her.” We assume the investigation is ongoing.
