Drone Flying Near Blue Angels Gets the Attention of the FAA and US Navy

It was a video that went viral and it’s not surprising why it did.

And what’s also not shocking is that the people involved in the drone flyby of the US Navy’s Blue Angel are in some pretty deep trouble with a host of United States governmental agencies.

The original video was pulled down, but it’s resurfaced and you can view it by clicking here.

As you can tell, that’s a pretty bold move on the part of the drone operator. He’s not only made the government mad but also a bunch of drone pilots as well. In fact, they were so outraged that they began issuing death threats and other promises of violence – and to people who simply reposted the video.

One such victim of that Internet backlash is Vic Moss who told DPReview, “My take is that those people who are so vitriolic to me did so out of passion for the industry. While I most certainly did not appreciate it, and [it’s] caused no end up exasperation to me, it was all done out of passion for the industry.”

The original video seems to have been posted by an Instagram account (now deactivated) known as @GioLucia which DPReview and FStoppers identify as someone named Giovanni Lucia. Apparently, the man behind this account also denies any involvement though, as both websites point out, simply posting this video could get him in trouble.

Drones haven’t appeared in the headlines as much as they used to but that doesn’t mean that they didn’t make some epic outings in the past. Remember that time a drone shut down holiday air traffic at Gatwick in the UK?

What do you think of the bold move on the part of this drone flying near the Blue Angels? Let us know your thoughts on this story in the comments section below.

“Life is like a camera. Just focus on what’s important and capture the good times, develop from the negatives and if things don’t work out, just take another shot.” — Unknown
