Phase One Adds New Lenses to Blue Ring Family

JULY 18, 2016

By Greg Scoblete

Phase One is adding a pair of new zoom lenses to its "Blue Ring" family: the Schneider Kreuznach 40-80mm LS f/4.0-5.6 Zoom and Schneider Kreuznach 75-150mm LS f/4.0-5.6 Zoom.

Each lens is compatible with the Phase One XF, Phase One 645DF+ and Mamiya 645DF+ or DF camera systems. They offer a zoom lock function on its barrel designed to maintain focus position while zooming. They also each support flash synchronization up to 1/1600s.  The lenses' built-in electronics permit individual focus calibration when used with the Phase One XF Camera System. They're designed by Schneider Kreuznach and produced by Phase One Japan using aerial-grade mechanics.

The 48-80mm stops down to f/32 and has a minimum focusing distance of 1.97 feet. It weighs 4.1 pounds and will retail for $5,900. It is shipping now.

The 75-150mm stops down to f/22 and has a minimum focusing distance of 3.28 feet. It weighs just shy of 4 pounds and will set you back $8,990. It ships in August.

The lens in focus

“Life is like a camera. Just focus on what’s important and capture the good times, develop from the negatives and if things don’t work out, just take another shot.” — Unknown
