The latest iteration in Fujifilm’s line of tough cameras, the XP130, was touted today in a press release from the company.
The newest device is dustproof, waterproof to 20m, shockproof to 1.75mm and freezeproof with a lightweight body ad cutting-edge Bluetooth connectivity for easy image transfer. The FinePix XP130 will feature 16.4 megapixel back-illuminated CMOS sensor, 5x optical zoom lens, 3.0-inch 920K-dot high definition LCD monitor, full HD video recording at 60 fps, all at a weight of just 207g .
Dropping February 2018 for approximately $USD 399, the FinePix represents the continuing evolution of Fujifilm’s tough camera line.
The XP series has sold over 5 million cameras to date according to the company – a raving success by any standard.
Among the many new features, the most touted is the FinePix XP130’s Bluetooth capabilities. With the capability to interface with a smartphone or tablet for instant photo transfer, the FinePix XP130 is a powerful addition to any social media fanatic’s lineup.
This feature is almost tailor made for that crowd but also appeals to professional photographers with significant social media presences. The press release also highlights that the camera’s rugged form factor makes it an ideal piece of gear for children as well. The camera’s capabilities are, however, anything but a toy.
In terms of design, the camera is optimal for outdoor leisure activities according to Fujifilm and has a one-hand grip design. Although great for outdoors, the camera hasn’t forgotten the human element.
It will have an eye detection feature for portraits and auto-focusing on the eyes of the subjects in the picture. In addition there is the Cinemagraph mode that captures still images with moving elements. It will also capture video at 60 fps. To round it all out the FinePix XP130 will also have a time lapse mode. If you're in the market for a new tough camera, it seems like Fujifilm is gunning for your money.
