Rumors – they’re the grist that keeps the mill rolling in journalism. The best thing about them? Occasionally they prove to be true.
We recently told you about the hot rumor that Fujifilm would debut the rumored X-T3 at Photokina, and now we have word that the rumored Fuji GFX 50R could be joining the premier event.
Reports from Fujirumors indicates that the new Fujifilm GFX 50R will debut either at the trade show or shortly before and no price is indicated as of yet.

Photokina, the world's largest optical and imaging products trade show in the world, takes place September 2018 so the GFX 50R, if announced prior, would likely debut this summer 2018.
The Fujifilm GFX 50R promises to be a cheaper but just as capable version of the GFX 50S. Of course, we’re not expecting anything on par with the GFX 50S, but something that replicates its core features at a lower price point.
The GFX 50S is a serious bit of kit, sporting a resolution of 51.4 megapixels for outstanding image quality. The GFX 50S is compatible with the FUJINON GF lens series. The device is cased in a lightweight magnesium alloy body making it one awesome medium format digital camera.
Needless to say, a cheaper version of the GFX 50S would be a welcome addition to Fujifilm’s stable of products. And at $6000 or so depending on vendor, a cheaper version of the GFX 50S would be a welcome option for any consumer and fan of Fuji’s products. Purchasing the GFX 50S is no gentle slope to the world of Fujifilm products, but the GFX 50R could be the barrierless entry people have wanted.
If these rumors about Fujifilm’s products alone prove to be true then we could be in for quite a treat at this year’s Photokina. Of course, we’ll keep you updated as news becomes more concrete.
