Social media and photography go hand in hand, but that doesn’t mean that the partnership is all roses and honey.
In fact, more often than not, social media stars and influencers can bring embarrassment down upon us all with their antics. Whether it is disregarding safety in public spaces or even destroying property, social media just brings out the worst in some of us.
That seems to be what some Internet commentariat are alleging here. You see, TikTok star Alex Stemplewski is taking a lot of heat from the community for interrupting another photographer while he was conducting a wedding photoshoot in order for Stemplewski to take some pictures of the couple himself.
He posted on Instagram regarding the incident, “I saw a newlywed couple and wanted to give them a gift. I politely asked their photographer if I could have 5 minutes with them to take a few photos. Swipe through to see the results and the behind the scenes video that captured it all.
Congratulations to newlyweds Gage and Jess. I wish you the happiest and most amazing wedding and marriage 💕. Thank you to @israsd for bravely volunteering to film me approaching strangers that day and capturing this event.”
Most of the negative comments about Stemplewski’s actions circle around him being rude and unprofessional. As these things tend to go on the Internet, the tide has gone the opposite way for the wedding photographer that was interrupted, Bill Payne. His account is being flooded with praise and well wishes, as well as a little bit of admiration for how he handled Alex “AlexandertheGreat” Stemplewski’s awkward request.
