The end of the free unlimited storage option offered by Google Photos probably came as a shock to more than a few photographers and digital media professionals that had come to rely upon the service.

Well, as luck would have for those of us left in the cold by Google Photos’ sudden move to end free unlimited storage, Flickr has stepped into the fray to offer an alternative.
To make that switch easier for customers they’re even throwing in a 25% off promotion for Flickr Pro.
What do you get with Flickr Pro? Their blog lists the following benefits:
“Worry-free photo backup for your unlimited photos.
An ad-free experience for you and your visitors.
Advanced stats on your shared photos and videos.
Additional access and discounts as perks for being a member!”
For what it’s worth, Flickr isn’t exactly a new player on the scene and many of us probably already have an account with them. Flickr also promises to never compress your photos. If you’d just like to try them out, they let you up to 200MB of photos or 1GB of video for free.
Further, “Lastly, if you want to create your own photo website, complete with beautiful galleries, personalized privacy settings, and built-in eCommerce tools, our sister brand SmugMug is offering 40% off your first year. They also offer the same unlimited, zero-compression storage that Flickr Pros enjoy! Just remember, it’s not you, it’s Google Photos.”
