Our First Community Update In 2021!

Photography has the power of brightening up our lives; and what a great thing it is to start our days by checking out some beautiful images in the comfort of our homes! Here is the weekly wrap-up from Light Stalking – you'll find carefully curated photos from the general chit chat, as well as some creative images from Tersha's latest photography challenge on Contrasting Colours! And as you've already guessed, we'll be mentioning some worth-seeing shots from the Feedback Forum too!

Photo Of The Week – January 4th, 2021

Words by Jasenka Grujin

This week POTW goes to Tersha and her ravishing still life. The image is a great example of contrast in photography because we have both contrasting colors and light & dark.

On top of that, this still life has a wonderful painterly quality – it looks like a thick oil painting.

Congrats, Diane.

What Are Our Members Up To?

Pour some coffee and enjoy our favourite shots from Challenge 519th!

It is quite an unusual match, but purple and yellow do make a great visual contrast when placed together!

Bright yellow and green get along fantastically, and the beautiful bokeh makes a great visual statement

Beyond the nostalgic feeling one gets after seeing something like this, the vibrant contrast produced by red and yellow is definitely a classic!

Macro photography ain't just about nicely sharp photos with amazing amounts of lovely bokeh, it is also about composing with shapes and contrast in mind!

Aquatic and submarine photography is always a challenge, and just getting something is enough satisfaction in fact, now imagine capturing something as beautiful as this?

The simplest forms, shapes and objects become immediately interesting when arranged and composed in an aesthetic way.

This is beautiful!

Finding complementary colours in such ordinary scenes is always a pleasure.

What You Shouldn't Be Missing From The Light Stalking Community

Joanne shared a beautiful story on quite a character here.

Dave shared a great photo of a lighthouse in black and white!

Here you can share some closer shots, but honestly the wider is our keeper.

And Rob wishes us the best happenings during this 2021!

And last but not least, Erik shared some of the best photography of 2020 with us here.

And don't forget to welcome our freshest forum members!

We'd Love To Hear Your Thoughts

Also, our Feedback Forum received some nice photographs and is clear that some of you have started building a solid photography style. This is the right place for all those people that want to grow fast as photographers. This is possible thanks to valuable and positive feedback, which is perhaps the best way to hack the learning curve in photography.

Here you'll get your work critiqued by plenty of well-intended people, but you'll also have the chance to critique your peers. We truly believe in the power of criticism and feedback.

Many of our members have nurtured their own photographic knowledge by giving out elaborate critiques that go way beyond simple emoji based reactions or “nice shot” comments. Here are some of the most interesting shots shared during the last week:

The Shark Tank is a great place to learn and to discuss, so please read the instructions in order to get a better critique experience. Share your comments, opinions, and doubts on any or all of the images above. We also will be delighted to see some of your own images. Don't be shy, critiques are given to photographs and not photographers. We'll be more than pleased to help you out; after all, we all are in love with photography. Also, don't forget to participate in our 520th challenge on Unsaturated!

The lens in focus

“Life is like a camera. Just focus on what’s important and capture the good times, develop from the negatives and if things don’t work out, just take another shot.” — Unknown
