Fuji Announces Possible Delays for the GFX100S Due to Supplies Shortage

The GFX100S is apparently more popular than Fuji expected it to be.

In fact, the company is telling customers to anticipate some delays with the March release of their latest medium format.

The notice reads:

“Dear customers

We would like to express our sincere gratitude for your continued patronage of FUJIFILM products.

The mirrorless digital camera “FUJIFILM GFX100S,” scheduled to be released in late February, has received more reservations than expected, and this number has exceeded our initial supply.

Therefore, it may take some time before your order is delivered.

We will do our best to meet the number of reservations as much as possible, and we appreciate your understanding in this matter.”

A cursory glance around outlets online, meanwhile, seems to show that everything is on track for the 11 March release.

While this product seems to be related to overwhelming demand, reports of possible shortages hitting the industry this year are nonetheless common. If you will recall some time ago, a components factory fire in Japan is expected to put a lot of pressure on the major camera manufacturers this year but, thankfully, the GFX100S doesn’t seem to be impacted by that event.

Coming in at $USD 5,999, the GFX100S is one of the first large body systems with in-body stabilization, among other things, and is being touted for its abilities to “push the limits of wide format 4K/30p motion capture, GFX100 is not only reshaping how images are being made, but it is also redefining large format for the world’s next generation of image makers.”

You can check it out over on Fuji’s website here.

The lens in focus

“Life is like a camera. Just focus on what’s important and capture the good times, develop from the negatives and if things don’t work out, just take another shot.” — Unknown
